An irresistible and fiery dance, the Mambo can be traced to both Africa and Cuba, where dancers were found to use provocative hip action, along with quick footwork, to express the feeling of their music. The dance sparked a craze in New York, when it arrived in the late 1940’s, and spread across America in the 50’s. Today, the dance stays true to the original fast feet and hip action, giving it a flirtatious feel. The addition of more modern dips and spins make it an exciting challenge for all dancers.
